Flight navigation is hard! You just have to trust that someone or something out there knows where you are and where you’re going. And while there are many tools on the market to help make this complex task a little easier, sometimes it’s even harder managing those tools over time with your unique needs – without hiring more staff. Luckily, ForeFlight has made some changes this year to alleviate some of the common struggles that their clients struggle with every day.
How the navaids work
ForeFlight is a popular app used by pilots to plan flights, track their progress, and share their experiences with other pilots. The app includes a virtual cockpit that displays the flight plan and surrounding airspace. ForeFlight users can identify and track navigational aids, such as airports, VORs, NDBs, and DMEs.
When using ForeFlight for navigation, you may encounter obstacle avoidance systems (AOS). These devices require input from the pilot to prevent collision with obstacles in the air or on the ground. In order to interact with an AOS, ForeFlight provides specific instructions on how to input commands into the app.
AOS is a beneficial safety feature found on modern aircraft. By detecting potential hazards ahead of time and providing specific instructions to the pilot, AOS can prevent accidents from happening.
how to navigate to the airport
If you’re planning on using Foreflight to plan your flight, make sure you know how to navigate to the airport you’ll be flying out of. Foreflight contains a feature called “Fly To” that can take you straight there, no matter where in the world you are.
To use this feature, open Foreflight and select your destination from the Maps tab. Then, under “Flight Plans,” click on the “Fly To” button. This will load up a map of the airport with all available gates marked on it. You simply need to drag the marker for your flight out onto the airport grounds and Foreflight will calculate your route and tell you which gate to check in at.
If you’re not familiar with how to use Fly To, we have a few tips that might help:
– Make sure that your destination is located within Foreflight’s Map view
– Double-check your location before travelling by checking Google Maps or another offline map
– Give Foreflight enough time to calculate your route – usually about 10 minutes

- Once you have a basic understanding of navigation symbols and how they work, start practicing creating true course plots. Use ForeFlight’s free practice simulator to practice creating plots and navigating your aircraft through them. This will help you learn the ropes quickly and improve your skills overall.
Once you have a basic understanding of navigation symbols and how they work, it’s time to start learning about airspace restrictions . Remember, ForeFlight is a powerful mapping tool that can help you navigate through airspace restrictions. However, you’ll need to know how to read and understand airspace restrictions before you can use ForeFlight to navigate safely.
